Postville Herald, Thur., 28 May, 1931.

Mrs Sarah Folsom Simpson, daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Folsom, was born February 7, 1853, near Louisville, Kentucky, and died at her home in Postville, Iowa, Sunday, May 24, 1931.

When she was a small child her parents moved to Marsailles, Indiana, where they lived a number of years, later coming to Iowa to a farm near Frankville, where she spent her girlhood years.

On April 18, 1876, She was married to William Simpson and for quite a number of years they made their home on the farm now occupied by John Davis, her soninlaw. To this union two children were born, Florence, who is now Mrs. John Davis, and a son, Bert, who passed away 26 years ago. Mr. Simpson died in November of 1906 and in the following December Mrs. Simpson moved to Postville, where she has made her home ever since.

Mrs. Simpson is survived by her daughter Florence (Mrs. John Davis); by four grandchildren, Ralph C. Davis, Mrs. Hazel Hill, Mrs. Myrtle Hall and Harry Davis; and by two great-grandchildren, Jean and Donnel Davis. She also leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. Emma Webster; and a step-son, Wilbert Simpson; and two sisters, Mrs. Ann Padden and Mrs. Rachel Birdsell.

In her youth Mrs. Simpson joined the Bethel United Brethren church, then on moving to Postville, joined the Methodist Eptscopal church and later became a member of the Community Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Simpson was among the oldest and best known residents of this section, and being possessed of many good qualities of head and heart drew about her a wide circle of admiring friends, who will learn of her passing with sorrow and sincerely sympathize with those bound to her by closer ties.

The funeral, which was largely attended, was held on Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock from the Community Presbyterian church, Rev. R. F. Galloway officiating. Interment was made in the family plot at Grand Meadow cemetery.

The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful.
