Postville Herald, Thur. 28 May 1931.

Amos B. Grinder, the second son of (smudged) and Sarah Grinder, was born February 9, 1904, at Perry, Wis., and died at Postville, Iowa, May 20, 1931, aged 27 years.

He was baptized in the Lutheran church at Perry, Wis., and was an honest, industrious, home loving young man. Thirteen years of his life he spent with his parents in Wisconsin, attending school and helping care for the younger children. In the summer of 1917 he came to the home of his uncle, Lewis B. Smith, of route 2, Postville, to help on the farm during summer months, but found he liked farm life so well he remained with them during the rest of his life, excepting one winter spent in Arizona for his health, and several months he spent bringing cheer and comfort to his invalid father.

During Amos' life he has had much (smudged), but he has borne it all bravely and never complaining, always greeting his friends with a cheerful smile.

He leaves to mourn his departure his father and mother, one brother, (smudged); and three sisters, Marie, Olive and Ella, all of Kenosha, Wis.; his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Smith, and Ethel, who have loved him as a son and brother; his grandmother, Mrs. Seward Swenson; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Community Presbyterian church in this city, Rev. R. F. Galloway officiating. Interment was made in Postville cemetery.
