Sharon (Lenth) Bigler

Sharon (Lenth) Bigler, daughter of Edwin and Ethel (Weller) Lenth, was born September 3, 1939 at Postville, Iowa. She died Tuesday, September 13, 1994 in the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at Decorah, Iowa. She was 55 years old.

Sharon was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church at Luana. She graduated from Postville Community Schools with the class of 1956. On her 17th birthday (September 3, 1956) she began her job with Interstate Power Company where she was employed for the next twelve and one half years. On September 3, 1958 (her 19th birthday), she was married to Kenneth Bigler of Decorah, Iowa. Shortly after her marriage, she was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis). For the past 17 years she has been a resident of the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

She is preceded in death by her father who died in 1975 and her mother who died in 1984.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Bigler of Decorah, 2 sisters, Lavon (Mrs. Clair Borseth) of Decorah and Karilyn Lenth of Clermont, Fla; 4 brothers: Verland (Ellen) Lenth of Rossville, Eldon K. (Carol) Lenth of Elgin, Dayton Lenth of Bloomfield and Dale (Sue) Lenth of Castalia.

Services were held Friday, September 16, 1994 in St. John Lutheran Church at Luana, Iowa. Reverend Jeffery Ruetten officiated with Helmuth Land as organist and Ronald Meyer as soloist. Casket bearers were Lane, Lonnie, Joe, Michael, Larene, Loretta, Lorie, Dayton Jr., Daniela and Dannetta Lenth and Randy Borseth, April Hamilton, Roseanne Wickes, Linda Ferring and Cindy Walter.

The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
