Postville Review, Fri., 7 January 1916.

Nancy Ann Burnham was born in Vermont on March 28, 1845. Her parents and family moved from Vermont to Iowa in the early Fifties and made their home in Farmersburg, (then Windsor) Clayton county. After completing her public schooling course she attended a special school at Garnavillo under the supervision of Prof. Briggs. She then engaged in teaching for several years during the Civil War.

In 186? (Note: looks like 7) Miss Burnham and Mr. D. E. Harrington, a Civil War veteran ('61-'65) were united in marriage. They lived on a farm in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa, until 1888 when the family moved to Postville , where they have resided continuosly since.

(Note: The first 3-4 sentences of the next paragraph are missing, I begin again there after.).

She was a faithful wife, a tender, loving mother and a kind neighbor who met everybody in a womanly spirit. Many friends knew her and loved her. She was a member of Postville Chapter No. 238, Order of the Eastern Star, in which she took great pride as an active member.

Mrs. Harrington passed away in the early morning of January 3, 1916, after a short illness of congestion of the lungs. Hopes for her recovery were entertained until noon on Sunday when she suffered a relapse and slowly grew weaker until she quietly entered her long sleep. A kind husband, four sons, two daughters, several grandchildren, two sisters-- Mrs. M. L. Marsh and Mrs. R. T. Jones of McGregor, and one brother-- Francis Burnham of Farmersburg, live to mourn her decease. Mrs. Harrington was aged 70 years, 10 months and five days.

The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.

The many friends of the family extend their sincerest sympathies to the bereaved.

The funeral was held from the Congregational church at two o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, January 5, 1916, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. F. Childress. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
