Death of Fred Jones Public School Janitor
Acquaintances of Fred Jones were surprised and grieved to learn of his death Tuesday Morning at his home in this city. Although in failing health for some time past he was only confined to his room since Wednesday of last week. Stomach trouble was the cause of his demise.

Deceased was an adopted son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Jones of Union Prairie township, where he was born March 27, 1886. On June 15, 1919 his marriage to Miss Emma Hanson took place here in Waukon. She survives him together with two uncles and two aunts, namely: Scott and John Jones and Mrs. E.J. Chickering of this city and Mrs. Leonard McConaty of Decorah.

This vicinity had been his home the greater part of his life with the exception of a few years when he was employed in the railroad shops at Marquette and in the baggage room of the Milwaukee railroad in LaCrosse. The past three years he served as janitor of the Waukon public schools and was ever diligent and painstaking in his work.

He was a World War veteran, having been drafted with the last contingent that left Waukon.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. R.L. VanNice. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery. Among the relatives from a distance who are here are Mrs. J.S. McEvoy, Rock Island, Ill., Frank and John Hill, Chicago, Mrs. Leonard McConaty, son Donald and daughter Clara of Decorah.
