Sadie Bloxham

Sadie Belle Kelly, daughter of Orange Brace and Edith (Robey) Kelly, was born September 22, 1893, in Rossville, Allamakee county. She spent her childhood in the Rossville community. She received her education in a rural school in Allamakee county and graduated from Waukon high school.

On November 27, 1913, she was united in marriage to Lee Sumner Bloxham. After marriage they lived on a farm near Luana, and in 1935 moved to a farm near Ossian. In 1943 they moved to Hay Springs, Nebraska, where they farmed until 1964 when they came to Iowa for a visit. It was at this time that Mr. Bloxham passed away. They were the parents of 5 children - Beulah, Robert, Leora, Leona and Veva June.

Mrs. Sadie Bloxham was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She has made her home with her daughters these last 4 years. Mr. and Mrs. Bloxham celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November, 1963.

Sadie was a patient in the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville for 5 weeks and passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 1968. She reached the age of 74 years, eight months and 26 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Orange Kelly; one brother, Merwyn Kelly; her husband, Lee Bloxham; one son, Robert and one daughter, Leona.

She is survived by one brother, Clinton Kelly of Rossville, and 3 daughters, Mrs. William (Beulah) Wolfe of Harpers Ferry, Mrs. Leslie (Leora) Mundt of Ossian and Mrs. Morris (Veva June) Budge of Long Beach, California; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, other relatives and many, many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Kelly Bloxham were held in the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, on Friday, June 21, 1968, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dick Harberts officiating. Interment was in the Hardin Cemetery.
