Mrs. H. Gordanier Passes On Sunday. Husband And Five Children Are The Survivors.

Many were the expressions of sorrow and sympathy last Monday as the news was passed about that Mrs. Horace Gordanier had passed away at 10:30 Sunday evening at the Kallman hospital in this city at the age of 37 years, five months and 27 days.

Her maiden name was Ella Ida Wilhelmina Meier, she being the second oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Meier of this city.

She was born July 3, 1897, was baptized on August 22nd of the same year, and on April 11, 1908, she was confirmed and received into communicant membership of St. Paul's Lutheran church of this city.

On March 25, 1918, she was married to Horace Gordanier, and this union was blessed with five children, one son and four daughters, all of whom, together with the husband deeply mourn her loss.

All her life she has lived on the farm of her parents northeast of Postville, where she was born and where her children were born. She was a faithful wife and loving mother and devoted her life to the care of her family. Removed from them she will be sadly missed by her family, by those who knew and loved her as a daughter and sister, as well as the many who knew and admired her as a friend.

She is survived by her husband and five children, Howard, Bernice, Opal, Murtis and Violet; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Meier; two sisters, Mrs. Adale Zieman and Mrs. Mabel Heins; and one brother, Hall C. Meyer, all of Postville.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at 1:30 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. Dr. Garten officiating, and the large number of sorrowing friends in attendance to pay a last tribute of respect to her memory, as well as the many beautiful floral tributes, all gave evidence of the high place she had attained in the hearts of the people of this community where all her brief life had been lived. Interment was made in Postville cemetery.
