Mrs. George Waters, 77, lifelong resident of Post township and Postville, passed away Monday morning at five o'clock at the home of her son, Eaton Waters, northeast of town where she had been staying during her last illness which endured since shortly after Christmas.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at her late home in Postville at 1:30 o'clock and at the Community Presbyterian church at two o'clock, the Rev. J. Ian Fraser, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. W. M. Suckow, pastor of the United Brethren church, officiating. Interment was made in Postville cemetery.

Mrs. Waters was born as Eliza Eaton, the eighth child of Wells and Mary Wood Eaton, in Post township, December 13, 1861. Her parents were natives of Nova Scotia, Canada, who came to Post township in 1853, and who were among the leading promoters and organizers of the Bethel church, which Mrs. Waters attended and joined and of which she was a member throughout her lifetime.

On her twenty-first birthday, December 13, 1882, Eliza became the wife of George Waters with whom she began a long life on their farm near Postville and which union was permitted to celebrate its fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1932. Two sons were born to them, Cloy, now residing at Burlington, Iowa, and Eaton, who operates the old home farm. Mr. Waters passed away several years ago.

Mrs. Waters is also survived by a brother, Frank L. Eaton, of Belleflower, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Harris of Puenta, Calif., and Mrs. Maria Howe of Suprise, Nebr.
