Henry J. Wilke Passes On At His Home Saturday.

Henry J. Wilke, 75, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away Saturday evening at his home in this city following an illness of a year's duration. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. R. F. Ludwig and burial was made in Postville cemetery.

Pallbearers were J. H. W. Schroeder, L. C. Shultz, Fred Baltz, William Willman, August Miller and Joe Duwe.

Mr. wilke was born near Elkader on July 2, 1868, the son of Fred and Mary (Kamin) Wilke. His mother passed away when he was 10 years old and shortly afterward the family moved to Luana, where on February 21, 1893, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Ziegler, and the couple moved to their farm northwest of Postville. Two children were born to this union, Wilbert Wilke and Mrs. Walter (Mabel) Meyer, both of whom together with the widow survive.

In 1920 the family moved to Postville and for 18 years Mr. Wilke was employed by the Farmers Co-Operative Society. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church and of the Lutheran Brotherhood in which organization he held office for several years.

Also surviving are one grandchild, Geneva Wilke, of this city, and one half-brother, Fred Wilke of Earlham.
