Postville Herald, Postville, Iowa, Friday, December 5, 1919.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Warren Stiles was born in Whitesville, Allegheny Co., New York, Nov. 11, 1838, and died at Postville Hospital on Monday afternoon, Dec. 1, 1919, following a stroke of apoplexy suffered the day before at his home, and was aged 81 years and 20 days.

He came to Iowa in 1855 and was united in marriage to Charlotte VanHooser at Prairie DuChein, Wis., on April 17, 1866. Mrs. Stiles was a native of Watertown, N.Y., and was a resident of Postville at the time of their marriage. With his brother Noel he engaged in the drug business in an early day and this he followed for a number of years. Later he engaged in farming, which avocation he followed during the remaining years of his active life.

Some years ago he and his wife sold their farm and moved to Postville and purchased a home in which they might spend their declining years among the friends they had known and loved so long. However, the wife died some years ago and since that time our old friend has had to make his home with others, and although shown every consideration by those with whom he has since lived, the old world had never been quite the same since the loss of his life partner.

Warren Stiles was as honorable, honest, upright, and manly man as it was ever our good fortune to know. He was always full four-square, and the life he lived is more enduring as a monument to his sterling worth than any marble shaft that wealth could erect or that human tougue frame words to express, and those who had the good fortune to know him will sorely regret his passing.

The funeral was held from his late home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by Rev. Hadwen Williams of the M. E. church. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
