Fred Luebke was born September 27th, 1838, at Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, and after his marriage he emighated to America, settling at Middletown, Wis. Three years later he moved to a farm in Bloomfield township, Winneshiek county, Iowa, where he resided until seven years ago when he went to make his home with his son Charles, six miles east of Postville, where he resided until his sudden death on Thursday morning, Feb. 1, 1923, at the advanced age of 84 years, four months and two days.

He leaves to mourn his loss two sons, Charles and Louis, eight grandchildren, His wife, two sons and a daughter preceded him in death.

During his earlier years Mr. Luebke was an honest, industrious, hard working man, and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at two o'clock last Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. Schmidt. Interment in Postville cemetery.

In this connection the family wish to thank the many old neighbors and friends for their kindly assistance and sympathizing words after the death and during the burial of their beloved father.
