Postville Herald, Postville, Iowa, Thursday, April 7, 1921.

Mrs. Ida E. Harris, wife of S. A. Harris, and daughter of John N. and Susan Smith, was born May 3, 1864, in Post township, Allamakee county, Iowa. She lived her entire life in this community and died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray F. McGuire, of Marshalltown, Sunday evening Mar 27, at ten o'clock, aged 56 years, 10 months and 24 days.

On September 22, 1885, she was united in marriage with Sampson A. Harris. To this union was born two daughters - Lila Harris and Mrs. Leone McGuire of Marshalltown.

Beside her husband and daughters she leaves to mourn her loss, her aged mother, Mrs. Susan Smith, and sister, Mrs. Ira Smith, of Postville, and three grandchildren in Marshalltown.

She united with the Bethel U. B. church in early womanhood, and remained an active member of same until about two years ago when she and her husband transferred their membership to the First Congregational church of Postville, in which she was an active member until her death.

Mrs. Harris had not been in good health for some time, but in January underwent an operation from which she seemed to be recovering nicely. About a week ago she went to Marshalltown to visit her daughter. On Easter morning she attended services at the M. E. church and spent the remainder of the day happily, surrounded by her little grandchildren. Later in the evening she was taken ill and as the Easter day drew to a close her spirit took it's flight to it's eternal home.

The remains were brought to Postville Wednesday last, on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock the funeral was held from the Community church in Postville, Rev. J. A. Saathoff officiating. Interment in the Postville cemetery.

Mrs. Harris was a woman of many excellent characteristics, who thruout a long and useful life drew about her an ever widening circle of friends, who will extend tenderest sympathy in full measure to those bereft.
