Services Held For Cora O. Brainard

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 13 at 2 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, for Cora O. Brainard, who died Saturday, September 10 at Veteran's Memorial Hospital, Waukon. The Rev. Dick F. Harberts officiated.

Born September 15, 1892 in Allamakee county, she was the daughter of Jacob and Alice (Lawson) Ewing. She received her education in a rural school in Allamakee county.

December 11, 1909 she was married to Amos Brainard at the farm home of his parents.

Preceding her in death were 5 brothers, George, John, James, William and Charles and 4 sisters: Mrs. Walter (Cleora) White, Mrs. Ed (Ella) Pettit, Mrs. John (Bertha) Thomas and Viola, who died in infancy.

She is survived by 5 sons: Forest and Charles of Postville; Clarence, Sr., Milo and Adelbert, all of Luana; 3 daughters: Irene and Alice Brainard, Luana and Mrs. Vincent (Beulah) Bowers, Vermillion, South Dakota. There are 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Alfreda Smith of Waukon.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, rural Postville.
