John Ruckdaschel Passes Away After Long Illness.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Funeral services for John Ruckdaschel, whose passing on we briefly mentioned last week, were held last Saturday afternoon at his late home in this city, with the Rev. F. R. Ludwig officiating, and interment was made in Postville Cemetery. He had passed away at midnight last Tuesday.

Mr. Ruckdaschel was born as the son of John and Katherine Hersch Ruckdaschel, November 08, 1859, near Clayton Centre and was 79 years old. He was an active member of the Lutheran church, having joined this faith in the old stone church near Clayton Centre during the time his late brother-in-law , the Rev. F. W. Seifert, was pastor there.

On May 30, 1888, we was united in marriage with Miss Anna Knodt and to this union six children were born. Mrs. Ruckdaschel and one daughter, Flora, passed away some years ago. The Ruckdaschel family until nine years ago had always lived and farmed in Clayton County. Upon moving to Postville, the deceased built a new home here for himself and his daughter, Lenora, and this has been their home since.

He is survived by three daughters, Miss Lenora at home, Mrs. Walter Heins and Mrs. Lawrence Thoma, of Luana; two sons, Ernest, of Decorah, and John, of Waukon; one brother, Christ Ruckdaschel, of Postville, and one sister, Mrs Margaret Kluss, of Postville, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Flora, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johann and Herman, and three sisters, Mrs. Seifert, Mrs. Dickman and Mrs. John Thoma.
