Elzer Schierholz Passes Away Suddenly.

Elzer Schierholz, aged 53 years, a resident of this community for many years, passed away at his home in this city last Thursday following a brief illness. Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church, where the Rev. F. R. Ludwig officiated. Interment was made in the Monona cemetery.

Elzer William Schierholz was born at Monona February 23, 1885, the son of Herman and Elizabeth Dickman Schierholz, and became a member of the Lutheran church in that city as a youth.

He was married to Miss Amanda L. Wirkler of Monona on April 03, 1907, and to them were born four children, two sons and two daughters, all of whom survive. They are, Irving and Milton Schierholz of Luana, and Mrs. Clarence Reinhardt, Chester, Iowa, and Mrs. Gus. Drebenstedt, Spirit Lake, Iowa. Also surviving, in addition to the wife and children, are two sisters, Mrs. Celia Wirkler and Mrs. Pauline Miller, Monona; a brother, Henry, of Guttenberg; seven grandchildren and numerous other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Schierholz had spent his entire lifetime in the Monona and Postville communities. For a number of years he followed farming in Grand Meadow township and upon moving to Postville he took up carpenter work in which trade he was engaged up to the time of his passing.
