Adeline Julia Whaley was born in New York state April 09, 1843. At the age of nine years she came west with her parents and they settled at Waukon. There she grew up and lived for practically the remainder of her life. She married Lucius Hastings who died about twenty years ago. She was a member of the Waukon Presbyterian church. Recently she has been staying with her son, Mort Hastings, and passed away at his home June 7th after a brief illness. Two sons survive her, Charles, living near Decorah, and Morton of Postville. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, June 9th, at the home, Rev. Wiltberger officiating. Interment was at Waukon.
