Friends of the John C. Thoma family were deeply grieved Wednesday afternoon to learn that their daughter Arlene passed away suddenly at their home near Zion Reformed church. She underwent a tonsil operation a few days ago and it is thought complications arose from which she failed to recover.

Deceased was about 18 years of age and is survived by her parents and an only sister, Delpha Mae, who have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.

She graduated from the Waukon Junior College last May and was to teach her first term of school this fall in No. 1, Ludlow. - from the Waukon Democrat

Arlene Thoma was born in this city, where she had many friends, who will learn of her passing with sincerest sorrow. The funeral was held last Saturday afternoon and a large number of Postville relatives and friends were in attendance.
