John Haugsted, 70, well known Howard county farmer of near Cresco, died Friday in the Cedar Valley hospital at Charles City. He underwent surgery there the first of the week.

Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Monday in a Cresco funeral home and at 2:30 p.m. the same day in the Seventh Day Adventist church at Waukon. Burial was at Waukon.

Mr. Haugsted had lived here 20 years. He is survived by the widow, 5 sons and 2 daughters: Arthur, at home, Arvid, Cresco; Alvin and Arlo, Lime Springs; Andrew, Halfway, Ore.; Mrs. Mauice Whalen, Lawler; Mrs. Orvin Knutson, Elma. Also surviving are 4 brothers and 2 sisters. One son, Leo, is deceased.
