News is received here from Waukon Junction, south of here on the Mississippi, of a fatal accident in which ten-year-old Roy Spinner of Waterville lost his life.

The boy, together with his father and some others, were camping on the islands, and it seems in order to build a boat they heated a clam tank of water to soak the lumber in. After they had taken the lumber out the boy in walking about by some means fell into the tank. One of the men near by immediately grabbed him and ran into the river with him. They then took him to Waukon in hopes of catching the afternoon train for home but were a little too late. He was taken to the Blackwell hotel where he received the best of care and attention and Dr. Bassler of Harpers' Ferry was sent for.

The boy did not seem to suffer much pain but died the next morning at 5 o'clock.

~Note: 'Woodmansee' records show that Roy James Spinner February 1896-July 27, 1905 is buried in the Cherry Mound cemetery
