John Freemont More, son of Thomas and Isabelle More, was born June 1, 1863, at Paint Creek, Allamakee county, Iowa, and departed this life January 4, 1943 at his home in Ionia, Kans., at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 3 days. He was the eighth child of a family of 12 children.
He was united in marriage to Amanda J. Morgan, September 11, 1899, at Kellogg, Iowa.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, two children, Mrs. Etta Wilmore of Abilene, Kans., and Lloyd More of Aumsville, Ore. One son, Lawrence, preceded his father in death, September 26, 1918.
He also leaves nine grandchildren; Mrs. Beulah Miller of Hutchinson, Kans., Robert Millmore of Wichita, Kans., Mrs. Maxine Rubin of Salina, Kans., Maecille Wilmore of Abilene, Kans., Mrs. Dorothy Thompson of Kent, Wash., Duane, Darlene, Donna Lee and Gail More of Aumsville, Ore.; three great grandchildren, Cameron and Shirley Ann Miller of Hutchinson, Kans., and Arletta Kaye Wilmore of Wichita, Kans.; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Fisher of Tecumseh, Nebr., and Mrs. Agnes Wilbur of Mondamun, Iowa; many other relatives and friends.
He with his family came to Glen Elder in January, 1895, and spent the rest of his life in Jewell county, except six years lived in Oklahoma.
He was a faithful husband and loving father, a loyal friend always thinking of others in time of need and doing for others in any way his help was needed.

Funeral services were held at the U. B. church in Ionia Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment was in the Ionia cemetery.

John F. More's birth appears as 18 June, 1863, in the book 'History Of The Scott And Bryson Families' by John Scott Bryson, Isabelle's brother. A researcher will need to check for the proper date at the Allamakee Co., IA, courthouse.
