Rites Held for Cecil Livingood
Cecil Edwin Livingood, the son of Edwin Livingood and Mathilda Pechia Livingood, was born in Estherville, Iowa on May 1, 1897. The family moved to the Postville area when he was an infant, and he was baptized in the Bethel Evangelical United Brethren Church, near Postville.

He was united in marriage to Amanda Beisker on September 22, 1918. To this union were born four children, all of whom survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maude, Mrs. Frank Miller of Waukon; and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife; four children, William of Postville; Opal, Mrs. Milo Kuhse of Postville; Gilbert of Postville; and Bernard of Ridgeway; four brothers, Willard of Postville, Charles of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Earl of Ossian and Lynn of Waukon; five sisters, Abbey, Mrs. Carl Winters of Waukon; Nellie, Mrs. Alfred Winters of Postville; Estelle, Mrs. Gerald Moose of Postville; and Caroline, Mrs. Elwood Lawson of Hokah, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He farmed north of Waukon about 14 years, then in the Postville area until 1951, when he moved to Castalia, and later to Postville to make his home. He served in the United States Army during World War I from February 11, 1918 to May 5, 1919. He was a member of the American Legion for 43 onsecutive years, a member of the Farm Bureau board, a member of the Board of Directors of the Postville Telephone Company, and also served as a town marshal in Postville.

He became ill suddenly on September 22, which was also the occasion of his 44th wedding anniversary, and was taken to the Veterans' Hospital in Iowa City, where he submitted to surgery on September 23. He died at the hospital on October 5, at the age of 65 years, four months and four days.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on October 8, at 2:00, with the pastor, the Rev. Charles E. Witt, officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Legion and V.F.W. Posts.
