Syver Solverson Kolsrud.

Was born in Aals Prestegjeld, Halingdale, Norway, April 17, 1829, and died June 19,1909, aged over 80 years. In 1857 he came to the United States and settled in Paint Creek township, on section 16, where he labored industriously on the farm until his age and infirmities forebade. His wife preceded him in death six years ago, also one daughter, Miss Julia. Besides nine children survive him, Syver, Halvor, Sander, Gilbert and Mrs. L. C. Megorden, residents of Paint Creek township, and Mrs. K. E. Knudtson and Miss Lizzie at home, Mrs. E. B. Rook, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Mrs. L. T. Hermanson of Waukon, all of whom were present at his funeral Tuesday forenoon at ten o'clock at the home and 12 o'clock at the Old East Paint Creek church, except Mrs. Rook, and the remains interred in the cemetery adjoining.

Mr. Kolsrud was one of the pioneer settlers of this county and a man held in the highest esteem by all who enjoyed his acquaintance. For several weeks he was confined to his home and for some time he was unablle to take nourishment of any kind. The pallbearers were all grand children, Syver H., Christ H., Ben H., Carl S., Almer S., and Melvin S. Kolsrud.

The children and near relatives are extended sympathy from all their friends.
