Don Rice III (1911 - 2000)
Humorist and Comedian
Don Rice III a comedian and humorist who performed all over the United States and Canada and was enjoyed and loved by all, passed away Monday at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan. He was 89. He had been an entertainer for over 65 years. His brand of humor was unique. He never used an off color joke.
Rice did many television shows and appeared in the movie, "Lucky Lady", with Robert Young and Barbara Hale. His appearances on television included twenty-four Dean Martin shows, the Glen Campbell Show, the Mike Douglas Show and numerous others including the Perry Como Show.
During World War II, he entertained troops overseas in Europe with his show that included the well-known entertainer, Myron Floren.
Rice is survived by his wife Carmen and two nieces, Kathleen Gregory and Nancy Frieder and a nephew, Don Rice IV.
Services will be held Saturday, October 7th at 12:00 noon at Forest Lawn - Glendale in the Little Church of the Flowers.

Don Rice, 89, formerly of Waukon, died Oct.2, 2000. Don was a noted entertainer and reknowned humorist. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Don was born the son of Ruby Kaeser Rice. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ellsworth and Glen. He is survived by his wife, Carmen, to whom he was married 42 years; his sister-in-law, Jenny Rice; her son, Don; and two nieces.
By his own Will he was cremated. A memorial service was held Sat.,Oct.8, at Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA. His ashes were scattered over the Pacific Ocean.
