Frederick C. "Fritz" Zimmerman, age 75, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Walnut Court Apartments in Waterloo. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 15 at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls with Rev. Brad Braley officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Flag presentation was done by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49. Fritz was born November 30, 1927, in Waukon, the son of Frederick Charles and Marie (Saewert) Zimmerman.On August 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Ruth A. Patridge in Maynard. He was a machinist at the John Deere Waterloo Engineworks for 27 years, retiring in 1983.Fritz is survived by his wife, Ruth of Cedar Falls; a son, F. Roger Zimmerman of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Jean A. (James) Harrenstein of Cedar Falls and Laurie A. (Mike) Johnson of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wilma Brazell of Harpers Ferry and Mary Larson of Decorah. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Marilyn Jacobson. Casketbearers were Jeff Harrenstein, Jason M. Johnson, Zach Zimmerman, Joe Barrett, and Jon Jacobson.
