The people of this city were shocked and saddened on Tuesday morning when the news was passed about town that Miss Alice Cole had passed away during the early morning hours of that morning at Mercy hospital in Oelwein after a little more than a week's illness from pneumonia.

Alice Beatrice Cole, daughter of George and Nora Cole, was born in Postville, December 10, 1914, and died in Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, January 31, 1933, at the age of 18 years, one month and 21 days. She was confirmed and baptized in St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran church in this city August 12, 1928. She graduated from Postville High School with the class of 1932.

Since the establishment of the Iris theatre, Miss Alice has been ticket seller there and made her home here with her mother. She was a fine chistian young woman and we could pay her no higher compliment than to say that at all times and in all places she was a lady, and the universal expressions of sympathy and regret that are heard on every hand is the best evidence in the world that a fine young life has assed out just as it was budding into splendid womanhood, and the tenderest sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved family in their hour of sorrow.

She leaves to mourn her passing her mother, Mrs. Nora cole; one sister, Miss Vera Cole; and one brother, Charles; several uncles and aunts, cousins and a host of friends. The funeral will held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at two o'clock this afternoon, Dr. R.B. Garten officiating. Interment will be made in the Postville cemetery.

Among the out-of-town relatives here to attend the funeral are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Balzell and Mrs. Jack Chaput, of Kenosha, Wis.
