Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Ruth Roldson, age 84, of Waukon, Iowa, were held Saturday, March 20 at 1 p.m. at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran church in Waterville, Iowa with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Tom Duvel, John Erickson, Kenny Palmer, Scott Melcher, John Roldson, Dennis Kloke, and Wayne Kloke.
Ruth Christine, daughter of Christ and Richa (Pederson) Christianson, was born September 5, 1914 on the rural Waterville, Iowa farm of her parents. She attended the Waterville School. On April 8, 1931 she married Oscar Roldson at her parent's home. They farmed north of Waterville on the Roldson farmstead until moving to Waukon in 1961. She served in various offices of the Ladies Aid and was currently on the history committee for the church's 150 year celebration. After moving to Waukon, she began work at the Good Samaritan Center as a nursing assistant for 20 years, and later served as a volunteer, visiting with the residents, often speaking in Norwegian with them.
Ruth Christine Roldson died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar, who died in August of 1984, four brothers, Albert Christianson, Cornelius Christianson, Ingvald Christianson, and Theodore Christianson, a sister, Inga Christianson, a grandson, and a great-grandson.
Ruth is survived by her son Conrad (Judy) Roldson, her daughter, Ruby (Milo) Kloke, all of
Waukon, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
