Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Cora Marion Krumme, age 82, of Waukon, Iowa, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6 at the Glenwood Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, Iowa with the Rev. Joseph Lambert officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood East Cemetery with arrangements by the Martin Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Gary Kubitz, Doug Kubitz, Bruce Kubitz, Gregg Shattuck, Mark Kvammen, and Dean Smorstad. Honorary bearers were Bob and Phyllis Kubitz and Martin and Fern Krumme.
Cora Marion, daughter of Melvin and Clara (Scholl) Sandbeck, was born October 12, 1915 on their farm in Union Prairie Township in Allamakee County, Iowa. She attended rural area schools. On June 22, 1941, she married Eldo Krumme at her parent's home. They farmed in Union Prairie and Ludlow Townships before moving to Waukon in 1979. Cora worked as a waitress and cook at the S&D and Model cafes, as well as 21 years at Quandahl's Food Ranch Cafe. She also worked for a time as a clerk at Minegar's Dime Store in Waukon. Cora was a lifetime member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church, its Faith Circle and other women's organizations, and the Waukon VFW Auxiliary.
Cora Marion Krumme died Wednesday, December 3, 1997 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eldo who died in March of 1985, 2 sisters, Sophie Kubitz, and Dagne Smorstad and 2 brothers, Philip Sandbeck and Hartvig Sandbeck.
Cora is survived by her 2 daughters, Jean (Victor) Stuckman and Carol Krumme of Waukon, Iowa; a son, Don Krumme of Zephyr Cove, Nevada; 3 grandsons; and 3 sisters, Arla (Robert) Stuckman of Waukon, Iowa, Ethel (Al) Kvammen of Decorah, Iowa, and Helen Seiple of Long Beach, California.
