Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21 at the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, for William C. Christofferson who died July 17 at the Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The Rev. Robert Lueck officiated.

Born on a farm near Postville June 27, 1897, William was the son of Walter and Mary Olson Christofferson. He received his early education in the rural schools near Postville and graduated from Postville High School in 1915, in the first class to graduate from the Old Brick Building.

"Bill" was married to Alice White January 28, 1925. They became parents of three children, Marian, Leo and Roger. Alice died June 30, 1931.

November 12, 1935, Bill married Lois White and to this union four children were born, Myrna, Walter Dean, Ruth and William Mark. Lois preceded him in death January 2, 1968.

Mr. Christofferson farmed his entire married life in Post township. He also served as township assessor. He retired in 1962 and moved to Postville.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Henry, Elmer, Louis, Elbie, Harvey and Leonard and three sisters: Mrs. Fred (Clara) Bente; Mrs. Harry (Anna) Bente and Mrs. Hollis (Velma) Enyart.

Surviving are his four sons: Leo, Monona; Roger, Postville; Walter Dean, Kenosha, Wisconsin and William Mark, Waterloo; three daughters: Mrs. Charles (Marian) Linderbaum, Castalia; Mrs. Ronald (Myrna) Gordon, Luana and Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Walz, Monona. There are 16 grandchildren; three great granddaughters; a brother Herman and a sister, Mrs. Alice Backhaus, both of Postville.

Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
