Funeral Services For Mrs. A. M. Candee

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Schutte Funeral Home for Mrs. A. M. Candee, 82, who passed away at her home in Postville on Thursday, May 6. Rev. Eldon Seamans, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church, conducted the final rites. Burial was made in the Postville cemetery.

Mrs. A. N. [Eva] Candee, daughter of Clark and Cynthia A. Hinman, was born in the Hardin vicinity on August 22, 1866. She lived in Hardin and in Postville her entire life.

She was married to Asa M. Candee on September 7, 1887. In March, 1921, the couple left the farm which had been their home most of their married life, and came to the present home in Postville to reside. In this home, Mr. Candee died June 6, 1940. Mrs. Candee remained in the home until the time of her death.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Fred Jahncke, Roy Candee of Volga, Lance Candee of Manchester, Lee Candee of Maynard, and Clifton Candee of Bound Brook, New Jersey. In addition there are eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Postville, Ia. - Services for Mrs. Eva May Candee, 81, who died Thursday in Postville hospital, will be held Sunday at the Schuette funeral home, with the Rev. Eldon Seamans, pastor of the Community Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in Postville cemetery.

She was born at Hardin, east of Postville, on Aug. 22, 1866, the daughter of Austin C. Hinman and Cynthia Patterson Hinman. She had lived in this community all her life. She was married to Asa Candee, who died in 1940.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Fred Jahnchke, of Postville; four sons, Roy, of Volga, Lance, of Manchester, Lee, of Maynard, and Clifton, of Bound Brook, N.J.; and several grandchildren.
