Memorial services were held Saturday, November 25 at Martin Funeral Home for long-time school administrator Robert McLeese, age 91. The Rev. Karl Giese officiated.

Robert McLeese was born January 21, 1904 in Woden, Iowa, the son of Henry and Ida (Dyal) McLeese. He graduated from high school in Cambridge, Illinois and from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa in 1928. He took his master's and specialist degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1948. Robert and Dorothea Orr were married in Fayette, Iowa on August 2, 1931.

Bob was a member of the National Rifle Association Ducks Unlimited, and charter member of the McGregor Kiwanis Club. He was chosen for the Upper Iowa Hall of Fame as an athlete in track and basketball in the days of "Doc Dorman's Peacocks" at Upper Iowa University. Since 1953 he had a cabin on the Mississippi River and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He remained a fan of all sports. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer, woodworker, and avid storyteller. He had retired to Harpers Ferry in 1969 after a career in education during which he taught, coached, or was an administrator in Victor, Iowa, West Union, Iowa, Hawkeye, Iowa, McGregor, Iowa, and Waterville, Iowa.

Robert McLeese died at the age of 91 on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 1995 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothea; a son, Larry McLeese of Harpers Ferry, Iowa and twin daughters, Jeanine (Bob) Mathis of Harpers Ferry, Iowa and Jananne (Curtis) Selberg of Waukon, Iowa; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
