Harold Robinson, Horseman, Dies
Watertown _ Harold J. Robinson, 62, well-known horse breeder and showman, died Monday (Aug. 7, 1972) in a Milwaukee hospital after an illiness.
He was born in Waterville, Ia., and had lived in Watertown since 1950. For the past 25 years he had been employed as a school photographer in the Watertown area for the National School Studios.He was married to the former Jean Loeppke.
Mr. Robinson was an Applaoose horse breeder and showman, and since 1957 his horses had won championships in three countries and 28 states. For several years he led and organized the Wild West section of the Schlitz Circus Parade Wilwaukee (sp?).He was a member and inspector for the National Appaloose Horse Club of Canada and the National Pony of America Club. He had served three times as president of the Southern Wisconsin Appaloose Horse Assn.
Mr. Robinson also was a member of the St. John the Baptist Church, Clyman.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Dr. Charles L., Cambridge, Mass. and Harold H., Watertown; a daughter, Dora, Rochester, N.Y.; his step-mother, Mrs. Pauline Robinson, Harpers Ferry, Ia.; a brother, Elmer, Dubuque, Ia.; and four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Riotenberg, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Grace Slide, Decorah, Ia.; Mrs. Hazel Schletter (sic - Schlitter), Waukon, Ia.; and Mrs. Monica Duke, Fairfax, Ia.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Anne's Church, Ia. Friends may call in Watertown at the Schmutzler Funeral Home from 4:30 to 9 p.m. today.
