Funeral services for Leonard Francis Moore, age 95, of New Albin, Iowa, were held Wednesday, January 17 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin, Iowa. Father Henry Charipar officiated at the 11 a.m. services. Burial was in the Church cemetery with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home of Lansing, Iowa in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Kerry Moore, Don Moore, Remi Moore, John Moore, Mark Lilly, and Jim Duffy.

Leonard Francis Moore, son of Patrick and Mary (O'Brien) Moore, * See Note Below * was born December 16, 1894 in Lansing Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. On April 20, 1920 he married Josephine Schauls in Caledonia, Minnesota. They farmed in the New Albin, Iowa area until retiring in 1963. Josephine died November 2, 1981. He served on the board of the New Albin Cooperative Creamery for many years. He was a member of the New Albin Community Club and served on the Township Board of Trustees for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Upper Iowa River Drainage District, an agent for American Farmers Mutual Insurance of Des Moines, and a seed corn salesman for United Hagie. In his youth, Leonard played baseball for the Sand Cove and Iowa River baseball teams.

Leonard Francis Moore died Sunday, January 14, 1990 at the Thornton Manor Nursing Home in Lansing, Iowa where he had been a resident since June of 1981. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, three brothers, John Moore, Corey Moore, and Martin Moore, and two sisters, Kathryn J. "Katie" Hurley and Celia Moore.

He is survived by 2 sons, Arnold Moore of Starkville, Mississippi and Earl Moore of New Albin, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

NOTE: In the obituary for his sister, Kathryn Hurley, the mother's name was listed as "Julie O'Brien".
