Former Waukon resident Ruth Evelyn Wiedenmann, age 90, of Waco, Texas, died Sunday, August 26, 1990 at the Providence Hospital in Waco. Her funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 31 at Martin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers were Keith Mason, Bill Campbell, Scott Francik, Ryan Campbell, Robert N. Wiedenmann, and Richard Wiedenmann.

Ruth was born October 31, 1899 in Franklin Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Lineas and Sarah (Entwistle) Mason. She graduated from the Waukon High School and was a former country school teacher and telegraph clerk. On December 25, 1920 she married Fred Peter Wiedenmann. Fred died October 21, 1954. From 1954 to 1986 she lived in West Palm Beach with her sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Tom Campbell. She and her sister also shared a home at St. Andrew's Methodist Retirement Center in West Palm Beach. In 1986 she moved to the William Booth Gardens Apartments in Waco where she was living at the time of her death. She was formerly active in St. Paul's Methodist Church in Waukon, Iowa and was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, John Harold Wiedenmann, a brother Guy Mason and her sister, Fern Campbell.

She is survived by two sons, Neal Wiedenmann of Waukon, Iowa and Robert Wiedenmann of Waco, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Robert N. Wiedenmann of College Station, Texas, Richard Wiedenmann and Ruth Wyrick, both of Waco, Texas, Larry Dietrich of Indianapolis, Indiana, Gary Wiedenmann of San Jose, California, Kathy Campbell of Waukon, Iowa, Cheri Francik of Anamosa, Iowa and Carol Gangi of Leominster, Massachusetts, and 14 great-grandchildren.
