Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Former Waukon area resident Milton Sivesind died August 15 at Sunset Care Center in Mesa, Arizona. He was born September 15, 1913 in Allamakee County, Iowa to Ingeman and Caroline (Nash) Sivesind. He attended Helming grade school and graduated from Waukon High School in 1932. He continued his education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, graduating with a degree in dairy science. After being employed by Maytag and Carnation Companies, he worked as dairy and food plant engineer for Shamrock Dairy for 33 years. In 1939 he married Mary Milsap of Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Mary died in June of 1968 in Tempe, Arizona. In 1974 he married Marie Ewing of Tucson, Arizona. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Casper Sivesind and John A. Sivesind.
He is survived by his wife Marie; a daughter Carol Martinez of San Francisco, California; a sister, Clarice Snitker of Decorah, Iowa; 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. John A. Sivesind of Waukon, Iowa and Mrs. Casper Sivesind of Ames, Iowa; 3 step-daughters, a step-son, and 8 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 17 at University Presbyterian Church in Tempe with Pastor William Howell officiating. Burial was in Eastlawn Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona. Relatives from out-of-state attending the funeral were his daughter, Carol, sister Clarice, sisters-in-law Mrs. John Sivesind of Waukon and Mrs. Casper Sivesind of Ames, Iowa and nieces Lorraine Fiksdahl of Rochester, Minnesota and Mrs. David (Elizabeth) Linde of Bettendorf, Iowa.
