Memorial services for Hertha G. Damkroger, age 88, of Waukon, Iowa, formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota were held Sunday, August 19 at 10 a.m. at Martin Funeral Chapel in Waukon, Iowa. Burial was held Monday, August 20 in Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Hertha was born June 24, 1902 in Mayville, North Dakota to Edward and Maria (Bethke) Chynka. She married Richard Damkroger, who preceded her in death. She made her home in various places, including a time in New York during World War II when she worked in Civil Defense and eight years in Waukon, Iowa where she managed the Selective Service Office at the Allamakee County Courthouse. From 1965 to the spring of 1990 she lived in St. Paul, Minnesota. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa since the spring of this year.

Hertha died Friday, August 17 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Betty Lou, and three sisters, Eunice, Tillie, and Ethel.

Hertha is survived by a sister, Frieda Hummel of Waukon, Iowa, a niece, Uvonne White of Waukon, Iowa and numerous grand nieces and nephews living in the Waukon, Iowa area.
