Funeral services were held for Ruth L. Russell, age 57, of Churchtown, Iowa on Tuesday, September 4 at United Methodist Church in Lansing, Iowa. Pastor Tom Mattson officiated. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Keith Grady, Arnold Zezulka, Jeff Steiber, Rick Shelton, Steve Decker, and Ronnie Shelton. Honorary pallbearers were Nathan Troendle, Nicholas Troendle, Tina Russell, Travis Russell, and Delbert Scholtes.

Ruth was born July 27, 1933 in Allamakee County to Donald and Irene (Decker) Steiber. On October 29, 1950 she married Delbert Russell in Lansing, Iowa. Delbert died May 19, 1973. Ruth worked as a carder at the Lansing Button Company.

Ruth died Saturday, September 1, 1990 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father who died in 1972.

Ruth is survived by her mother, Irene Steiber; a son, Donald Russell of DeWitt, Iowa; 2 daughters, Debbie Troendle and Donna Scholtes, both of Lansing, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Troendle, Tina and Travis Russell, and Delbert Scholtes; 3 sisters, Bev Grady, Mona Shelton, and Sharon Decker, all of Waukon, Iowa; and a brother, Kenneth Steiber of Lansing, Iowa.
