Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 23 for LaVern Kenneth Quanrude, age 44, who died Saturday, October 20, 1990 as a result of a fire in a mobile home. The services were held at 11 a.m. at Hanson's Funeral Home with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jim Magner, Pat A'Hearn, Floyd Mount, David Lewey, Gary Pladsen, and Bob Nunnery. Honorary pallbearers were Clayton Teslow, Leonard Bulman, Kenny Nierling, Kevin Hastings, Doug Haas, and Wayne Wold.

LaVern was born October 12, 1946 in Allamakee County, Iowa to Harold and Ursula (Becker) Quanrude. He attended one year at North Iowa Community College, Mason City, Iowa and had lived most of his life in Waukon, Iowa. He was a welder and a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his 3 children, Mrs. Charlotte Peterson, Fanchan Quanrude, and John Quanrude; a grandson, Tyler; and 2 brothers, Ronald Quanrude of St. Paul, Minnesota, Terry Quanrude of Waukon, Iowa, and 3 sisters, Merle Jane (Ronald) Belz of Decorah, Iowa, Eileen (Robert) Madison of Goldfield, Iowa, and Dianne (Tom) O'Neill of Waukon, Iowa.
