Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Clinton Meyer were held Saturday, December 7, 1991 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Charles W. Miller officiated. Schutte Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Hall Everman, Craig Everman, Jerry Davis, Douglas Mounce, Douglas Ruckdaschel, Bill Radloff, and Keith Meyer.
Clinton William Fred Meyer was the son of Chris C. and Amanda (Foels) Meyer. He was born February 9, 1915 in Winneshiek County, near Castalia, Iowa. Clinton was baptized April 30, 1915 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church and confirmed there August 11, 1929. He received his education in the Lybrand School. On November 6, 1936 he was united in marriage to Gretchen Everman at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They became the parents of one daughter. They farmed in Post Township, north of Postville, Iowa. In 1975 they moved to their present home in Postville, Iowa.
He passed away Thursday, December 5, 1991 in the Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, Iowa. He had reached the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 26 days. Clinton was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen; a daughter, Bonnie (Walter) Fong of Royal Oak, Michigan; a grandson, Jason Fong who is attending the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and a granddaughter, Wendy Fong, who is attending Michigan State University at East Lansing, Michigan; a brother Robert (Irma) Meyer, a sister, Helen (Roland K.) Gray, all of Postville, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
