Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Becker were held Saturday, January 25, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Charles W. Miller officiated. Schutte Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Wally Embretson, Cloy Kuhse, Kenneth Everman, Roger Moeller, Loren Walch, Leo Schroeder, and Dean Sampson.

Amanda Marie Sophia Elizabeth, daughter of Charley and Louisa (Schrader) Doerring, was born September 26, 1893 in Monona Township, Clayton County, near Luana, Iowa. She was baptized January 14, 1894 by the Rev. John Gass and confirmed April 12, 1908 in St. John Lutheran Church at Luana and attended Eno School. On December 14, 1915 Amanda was married to Fred H. Becker at the home of her parents, south of Luana, Iowa. To this union five daughters were born. They farmed in Wagner Township until they retired in 1960 and moved to their home in Postville, Iowa. Amanda continued to live there until 1987. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa and also a member of the Silver Creek Club and the Senior Citizens. She loved to work in her flower garden and was an avid card player.

Amanda passed away Thursday, January 23, 1992 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. She had reached the age of 98 years, 3 months, and 27 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, who died June 5, 1975; one grandson, Allen Kuhse; one great-grandson, Bret Schroeder; 4 brothers, Ed Doerring, Arno Doerring, Hubert Doerring, and Lester Doerring; a sister, Esther Mohs; and 2 sons-in-law, Lloyd Everman and Orlando Moeller.

She is survived by her 5 daughters, Ivanelle (Lorenz) Kuhse, and Helen Everman, all of Postville, Iowa, Margenelle Moeller of Monona, Iowa, Jeanette (Ewald) Walch of Luana, Iowa, and Gladys (Daryl) Sampson of Castalia, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
