Funeral services were held June 7 for Stevan H. Owen, at the United Methodist Church, Cresco, Iowa with Rev. Wayne Wasta officiating. Burial was in the Postville, Iowa Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dennis Leikwig, Glenn Jackson, Dennis Austin, Gerald Mishak, Mark Grinaug, and Howard Bell. Honorary casket bearers were Daniel Ohloff, John Gericke, Lee Thoma, Douglas Ruckdaschel, and William Sindlar.

Stevan Owen, son of Evan and Molly (Eichhorn) Owen, was born December 22, 1946 at Anamosa, Iowa. He passed away late Saturday evening, June 4, 1977 in Howard County, near Riceville, Iowa from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Steve's family moved to Postville in 1960. He graduated from the Postville Community High School in 1965. On august 22, 1970 he was married to Patricia Mitts at the West Clermont Lutheran Church, in Clermont, Iowa. They lived in Postville, Iowa until March 1976 when they moved to Cresco, Iowa. Steve joined the Sheriff's Department of Howard County as a Deputy in January 1977. He had attended school at the Hawkeye Technical School in Waterloo, Iowa and graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Recruit Class on June 3, 1977.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Evan Owen on December 7, 1974, and his paternal grandparents, Vincent P. and Mary Eleanor (Roberts) Owen and maternal grandfather Eichhorn.

He is survived by his wife, Patty, and son, David; his mother, Molly Owen of Postville, Iowa; a sister, Mary Chris (Paul) Abicht of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Amalia Eichhorn of Postville, Iowa
