Lulla Jeneva Sorum, 86 of rural Waukon, Iowa died Wednesday, August 15, at Veterans Memorial Hospital. Her services were held Saturday, August 18 at 2 p.m. at East Paint Creek Synod Lutheran Church. Vicar Richard Fyffe and the Rev. Mark DeGarmeaux officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Walter Gilbertson, Eric Sorum, Merton Iverson, Gary Dahlstrom, James Normann, Jr. and David Sorum. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Odegard, Melvin Smedsrud, Duane Stahl, Ron Reetz, Lester Bruvold, and Rudy Larson.

Lulla was born March 8, 1904 in Center Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Peter and Hannah (Bakkum) Gilbertson. She attended rural Allamakee County schools. On December 18, 1924 she married Morris A. Sorum in Waukon, Iowa. He died July 8, 1966. She was a member of East Paint Creek Synod Church and its Ladies Aid.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Arthur Gilbertson and Paul Gilbertson and a sister, Ethel.

Surviving are 2 sons, Morris Sorum and Burnell Sorum, both of Waukon, Iowa; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Martha Stahl of Milwaukee, Iowa.
