The Rev. William M. White, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Diocese of Joliet in Braidwood, Illinois died Saturday, November 15, 1997 at the age of 67. Funeral Mass services were held at Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood, Illinois with graveside services to be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 20 at St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery, rural Waukon, Iowa with the Right Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating.

William was born May 13, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to William and Jean (Murray) White. Rev. White's father was raised in the Lycurgus area of Allamakee County. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, Illinois for two years. William then spent one year of Novitiate with the Paulist Fathers and completed one year of study at St. Peter College in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his study for the priesthood at Procopius Seminary in Lyle, Illinois. Following his ordination June 7, 1958, he was assigned to Immaculate Conception parish in Elmhurst, Illinois. In 1963 he was assigned to St. Dennis parish in Lockport, Illinois and in 1967 he was named pastor of St. Mary's parish in Paxton, Illinois. He was named pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood in 1987.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister, Virginia; his cousins, James "Bob" White, Fran (Campbell) Cutler.

He is survived by his cousins, Joe Kroack of Waukon, Iowa, Bob Duffy of Golden, Colorado, Richard and Mariam Duffy of California, Catherine and Thearon Hauge of Excelsior, Minnesota, Helen and Lou Letts of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Nancy Andrews, of Orland Park, Illinois, Shirley (James) Mallaney of Orland Park, Illinois, Patricia (Anthony) Maravilla of Crown Point, Indiana, Brother John M. Murray, FMS of Chicago, Illinois, Terrance (Mary Anne) Kelly of Oak Lawn, Illinois, and his uncle, Clayton Kelly of Oak Lawn, Illinois.
