Funeral services for Francis C. Buren were Tuesday October 29 in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were David Buren, Michael Buren, Daniel Buren, Jim Crandall, Jeffrey Huinker, Donald Colvin, Lyle Groth, and Darwin Fritz.

Frances Cornelius Buren, son of Cornelius and Carolyn (Hooper) Buren was born October 12, 1902 at Waterloo, Iowa. He died Saturday, October 26, 1991 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa. He was 89 years old. He attended Edison Grade School in Waterloo, Iowa. On June 30, 1927 he married Wanda Crandall in Waterloo, Iowa. He was a toolmaker until 1941. They moved to Yakima, Washington where he was employed as a machinist. In 1975 they retired and moved to Postville, Iowa. Francis was well known for his love of fishing and for his bountiful garden.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and 3 sisters, Itasca Ludtkee, Rona Melvin, and Neva Eddy.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda; a son, Francis W. (Vivian) Buren of Postville, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: David (Connie) Buren, Michael (Lori) Buren, Judy (Jeff) Huinker, and Daniel Buren; 7 great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Julie Buren, Megan and Elizabeth Buren, Nicole, Brandi, and Kendall Huinker; and a brother, Charles Buren of Yakima, Washington.
