Mildred Trappe

Funeral service for Mrs. Harold Trappe, 49, were held at 10:00 o'clock Monday morning, July 25, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona. The Rev. Joseph A. Sullivan of Postville officiated at the Requiem High Mass with response made by the seventh and eighth grade choir of St. Patrick's School. Interment was at the Postville Cemetery.

Mildred Eileen Brewer Trappe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Brewer, was born in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, on March 31, 1917. She attended the Bailey Rural School, and graduated from Postville High School in 1933. She attended college at Cedar Falls, Fayette, and Decorah.

She was married to Harold H. Trappe at St. Patrick's Church, Monona, on August 21, 1941. They have one daughter, Mary Kay (Mrs. William Frankenhoff) of Boscobel, Wisconsin. They spent their married life farming in the Postville-Monona area, where Mrs. Trappe taught school for 29 years. She taught the Lycurgus School near Waukon up to the day before she entered the Postville hospital in February, 1965.

Mrs. Trappe passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, on Thursday, July 21, after a long illness. During her youth, she was a member of boys and girls 4-H clubs, and later served as a 4-H leader in Clayton county. She was a member of St. Patrick's Rosary Society, and she was also a member of ISEA and NEA, teaching organizations.

Surviving are her husband, Harold; one daughter, Mary Kay (Mrs. William Frankenhoff, Boscobel, Wisconsin); one grandson, Brent Frankenhoff; two brothers, Lavern of Metuchen, New Jersey; Raymond, at home; two sisters, Rose Marie (Mrs. Keith Smith, Postville); and Patty Lou (Mrs. Douglas Nissen, Waterloo); many nieces and nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Claire Brewer, and nephew, Bruce M. Smith.
