Rites Held For Harold Brewer

Funeral services for Harold A. Brewer, 60, were held the morning of May 19 at 9:30 o'clock at St. Bridget's church with Rev. Francis J. Vallaster officiating. The mass was sung by pupils of St. Patrick's junior choir of Monona, directed by Sister Mary Dominica.

Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Mr. Brewer died suddenly Friday morning, May 16th, while at work in the field with a tractor on his farm.

As Harold A., he was born the youngest son of Alonzo and Emma Pixler- Brewer in Le High, Iowa on March 3, 1892. His mother passed away when he was 10 months old. His brother, Vern E. Preceded him in death, May 28, 1913.

He received his education in the rural schools of Clayton county and attended Oliver Business School in New Hampton. He was associated with the trucking business for 20 years.

On October 4, 1910 he was married to Clarie Cooney in St. Mary's church in New Hampton. They lived in Mason City for two years, where he was employed by the Mason City Brick and Tile Company as a bookkeeper.

In 1912 they returned to Grand Meadow township, where they farmed until the time of their death. Mrs. Brewer passed away May 29, 1950.

Mr. Brewer is survived by two sons, Lavern and Raymond at home, three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Trappe of Monona, Mrs. Keith (Rose Marie) Smith of Postville, and Patty Lou at home, and six grandchildren.
