Cheryl Lynn Palmquist, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away May 19, 2008 at Banner Thunderbird Hospital in Phoenix. Cheryl was diagnosed with cancer in November 2007 and died from brain cancer at the age of 52. Cheryl requested that there be no memorial service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Her remains were cremated and will be buried in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Cheryl was born July 9, 1955 in Lancaster, Wisconsin to Fred and June (Schroeder) Palmquist. Her parents returned to Postville, Iowa where they owned and operated Palmquist Department Store for many years before retiring and moving to Arkansas. Cheryl was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. She graduated from Postville High School with the Class of 1973. After graduation she worked for insurance companies in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Des Moines, Iowa. In 1979 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She worked for several insurance companies there before joining Loftus Financial Insurance Company. She was employed by them for almost 25 years until she became ill.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cheryl is survived by her parents, Fred and June (Schroeder) Palmquist of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; her sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Scott Rothrock of New Bern, North Carolina; her nephew, Michael Rothrock of Greensboro, North Carolina and her partner, Jamie Levy of Phoenix, Arizona.

NOTE from the transcriber:

Cheryl's maternal grandparents were Louis and Lena (Behrens) Schroeder who lived in the Postville, Iowa community. Her uncles on the Schroeder side of the family who were deceased at the time of Cheryl's death were: Elliott Schroeder, Merlin Schroeder, Palmer Schroeder, Lowell Schroeder, and Dale Schroeder.

Cheryl was survived by her uncle Norman Schroeder and an aunt, Ileta (Harry) Tyler
