Barbara Joan Harnack

Barbara Joan Harnack was born on November 16, 1934 at Pueblo, Colorado, to John and Ella Irene (Marquardt) McMeekan. She grew up in Pueblo and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1952.

On January 7, 1956 she married Milo Harnack at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. To this union one daughter, Marjorie Irene, was born. They attended the United Pentecostal Church in Marathon, Iowa. Barbara enjoyed doing various types of art work. She did paintings for Jim Neighbors and Carol Burnett. She was commissioned by the mother of the first soldier killed in Desert Storm to sculpture a porcelain doll. She did numerous other sculptures and paintings.

She is survived by her husband Milo Harnack and daughter Marjorie Harnack, both of Marathon, two sisters, Margaret (Donald) Foose of Ashland, Oregon and Jane (Kenny) Craig of Denver, Colorado and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial services will be held Saturday, February 15, 1997 at 1 p.m. at the United Pentecostal Church in Marathon, Iowa.
