Reuben Hansmeier, 82, of Waukon, died January 23 at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon.
Services were held Thursday, January 25, 1:30 p.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, rural Waukon. Rev. Elsa Marsland officiated. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery. Martin's of Waukon were in charge of the arrangements.
Reuben Hansmeier, son Herman and Louise (Klepper) Hansmeier, was born May 20, 1907 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County. He attended Ludlow #9 rural school.
On October 12, 1933 he married Gertrude Stock at the home of her parents. They farmed in Ludlow until moving to Waukon in 1984. He was a Farm Bureau member and served on the church consistory for 18 years at Salem. He was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death were: a granddaughter, Beth Ann Hansmeier; brothers and sisters, Elmer, Mattie Adam, Esther Fiet and Emma Stock.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; 3 daughters, Mrs. Clifton (Charlotte) Christianson, Waukon, Mrs. Gene (Darlene) Johnson, Waukon; Mrs. Mike (Linda) Miller, Chariton, IA; 2 sons, Robert and Richard Hansmeier, both of Waukon; a brother, John Hansmeier, Waukon, a sister, Dorothy Haugen, Decorah; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: David Hansmeier, Daryl Hansmeier, Greg Berns, Gary Christianson, Gary Belverud, Kyle Johnson, Brian Smith.
