Erma Snitker, age 95, of Lansing, died Tuesday afternoon, April 29, 2003, at the Thornton Manor Nursing Home in Lansing. A celebration of Life and Faith was held Saturday, May 3 at the United Methodist Church in Lansing with Rev. Keith Putney officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted the family with arrangements. Erma was born in Postville July 18, 1907, to Walter and Nora (Dundee) Bray. As a young girl she and her family moved to Village Creek, where she attended Village Creek School through the eighth grade. On March 1, 1928, she married Loren Snitker in Frankville. Erma was a school cook and later ran the Corner Café while her husband farmed. During retirement, she enjoyed working at Clancy's Supper Club. For hobbies, Erma loved to quilt, sew, and play euchre. She dearly loved her family. Erma is survived by five children, Wayne Snitker of Lansing, Lyle (Robin) Snitker of Fond du Lac, Wis., Margaret (Glenn) Schellhammer of West Bend, Iowa, Rosemary Wiggins of Faribault, Minn., and Patricia (Jim) Diller of Nashua, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Loren, on April 12, 1970; a son, Charles; and five siblings, Melvin, Everett, Harry, Orrin Bray, and Hulda Gaunitz. Casketbearers were Sara Diller, Wayne Snitker, Jr., Bill Snitker, Ron Snitker, Wayne Schellhammer, Tracy Snitker, Tom Snitker, and Mike Wiggins.
