Word was received here by Mrs. Glenn Hagen from Mrs. Victor Pederson of San Francisco, California of the death of Mrs. Ruth McWilliams at Garfield Park Village Senior Citizens Center at Santa Cruz, California. Memorial services were held at St. Stephens Church in Santa Cruz.

Mrs. McWilliams was the former Ruth Pederson, daughter of Gabriel "Gabe" and Ida (Bryson) Pederson of Waterville, Iowa. She was born August 19, 1896 and died August 28, 1985*.
She was educated in the local school and received her nurse's training in Chicago, Illinois, a profession she followed there until around 1940 when she moved to California where she met and married Kenneth McWilliams, a real estate broker.

Mrs. McWilliams was the eldest in a family of seven. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Alice L.; and 5 brothers John A. Pederson, Rolf B. Pederson, Alfred Pederson, Lester Pederson, and Victor Pederson.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Mrs. Victor (Mildred) Pederson; many nieces and nephews, and cousins. Here in Waukon are one niece Mrs. Herbert (Bonnie) Rissman and two cousins, Mrs. Chester Hastings and Mrs. Glenn Hagen.

* The newspaper clipping had stated 1985 but the social security index lists 1982 but gives a range of several years in her actual age. A researcher would need do some checking in other resources for the actual date of death.
